My friend, Rebekah, will tell you — lovingly, of course, and with her sarcastic yet girlish giggle — that I am quickly and easily obsessed. I’m going to blame her for the whole Wicked/Cynthia Erivo/Jonathan Bailey tangent I went on for a whole damn year. She and I went to see part 1 of Wicked together in November 2024, which was the first I’d heard of any of those people and BOOM I was hooked. Rebekah had seen the musical, so she knew all the songs and the story, and she had also watched Bridgerton. So when Jonny Boy came on screen as the charming Prince Fiyero for the first time, she answered my, “OH MY, WHO IS THAT?” with a calmly seductive, “oh honey, you need to watch Bridgerton.”
So then I did. My GOD I did. Then I saw Jonny in Jurassic World: Rebirth. Then I watched every interview and clip and reel and read every article and looked at every photo shoot I could find or that showed up in my social feeds. And you know how that goes. Once you look at one, that’s all you get. Same with Cynthia. I listened to her on Spotify, YouTube, watched her and Ari perform at every awards show or special or whatever. I have never heard anyone sing with such effortless power and emotion, I tell you. I listened to the Wicked soundtrack on repeat in the car and the office and while I showered, and I sang Defying Gravity at the Top. Of. My. Lungs. I downloaded the movie on Apple TV and watched it so many times it’s stupid. Then my boy Jonny was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive and I went NUTS. Did you see that cover??? And did you see him with Elmo??? Sigh. His future husband is going to be a very lucky man.

Anyhoo, what I’m saying here is I dig in DEEP. Or, in other words, I go Down the Rabbit Hole.
So, what I’ve decided to do here is turn that quirky part of my personality into an actual creative outlet by writing about my obsessions, a suggestion from my husband (credit where credit is due, afterall). He probably figures it might save him from hearing about some of this shit so much. Got news for you, bud! Ha! Plus it’s a way to use that now useless journalism degree, eh?
Perhaps this glimpse into my brain will frighten you, I don’t know. I’ll take that chance. Honestly, I’ve stopped caring what people think about me and I’m embracing all of it.
A few things I may or may not be covering: Wicked/Jonathan Bailey/Cynthia Erivo (duh, there’s so much more!), Stranger Things, Steve Harrington/Joe Keery of Stranger Things, Six, other musicals as I see them, sourdough bread, my Oura ring, The Avett Brothers, Sudoku, Friends/Matthew Perry, the WNBA/Unrivaled, the Denver Broncos, health & fitness and … BUNNIES!
Let’s jump in!
