Dearest gentle reader

While this Bridgerton fan was very excited to binge the first four episodes of the new season, she was not excited that her favorite Bridgerton son was not in any of them.

I do love me some Benedict Bridgerton, who is the focus of this season. And if you haven’t yet watched, well. Oh my. But Anthony — played by Jonathan Bailey, in case you were unaware — IS the sexiest man alive, after all. I guess Anthony and Kate (Simone Ashley), are residing in India for the time being with their new baby. Apparently, they will appear minimally in part 2, released in late February.

Jonny said he needed to take some time off after a busy couple of years, so, fine. What is he doing with that time you wonder? Well, of course I know the answer, duh.

For one, I know that he has his Shameless Fund, a fundraising effort for the LGBTQ+ community, of which he is a proud member. According to the site, the goal is, “to forge a world where every LGBTQ+  person can live authentically, love freely and thrive without the burdens of discrimination, oppression or shame.” Anyone who doesn’t support that is no friend of mine.

I damn near spent $250 I didn’t have on this pair of slutty little sunglasses (named after his character in Jurassic World: Rebirth) because, 1) they’re bad ass, 2) the purchase would support people like my daughter and many of my friends, and 3) Jonathan Bailey. But alas, I did not purchase said sunglasses and simply donated a measly $50 I barely had instead (as you can, too, and please do!). But whatever, I can still look at his picture wearing them anytime I want to and now so can you! You’re welcome. Also, if you want to buy them and let me borrow them I won’t argue.

Jonny boy is also doing things like this unbelievable interview and photo shoot for Wonderland Magazine with Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo as part of the promotional tour. I swear I love this kind of stuff more than the actual movie. Seeing the genuine human beings that they are, particularly because they seem to be GOOD human beings, makes me smile. And who doesn’t need that right now?

Speaking of things he did with Wicked co-stars, did you see this New York Times pizza making video with  Ariana Grande? And I could watch this compilation of him giggling and eating pizza toppings on repeat. Word is the pair will also be starring in a new musical together — Sunday in the Park with George — in 2027. So I guess I’m going to London next year.

Speaking of Wicked … as much as I loved Part 1, I’m very meh about For Good.

And not just because Fiyero turned into straw. The music didn’t reach my heart and soul like Part 1 did. Bawled my head off on that final song, sure, but otherwise I was unmoved.

It also lacked much of the humor from Part 1. The storyline naturally got darker, but the laugh-out-loud stupidity from Glinda’s sycophants and the interactions with Madame Morrible were largely missing. And definitely needed more of prince charming Fiyero. His lines were minimal and, honestly, quite lame.

Oh well. I can always re-watch season 2 of Bridgerton. And you know I will.
